We offer EMDR therapy, somatic therapy, holistic talk therapy, parts work, and expressive arts therapy. These approaches are often integrated and tailored to your needs rather than used in isolation.
-
No. Most clients do not. We collaborate with you to determine what approach feels most supportive based on what you’re experiencing and what you want to work on.
-
We work with anxiety, trauma, relationship patterns, emotional overwhelm, shutdown or numbness, burnout, identity exploration, and difficulty feeling grounded or connected. We also support clients who feel stuck despite understanding their patterns.
-
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based trauma therapy that uses bilateral stimulation to help the brain reprocess distressing memories and reduce emotional intensity. It supports healing from trauma, anxiety, and past experiences that continue to feel activated.
-
Yes, remote EMDR therapy (also called online or virtual EMDR) is just as effective as in-person EMDR for many people. Using a secure telehealth platform, we’re able to recreate all of the essential elements of EMDR therapy in a way that feels simple, supportive, and easy to follow.
-
EMDR may be a good fit if you feel stuck in patterns related to anxiety, trauma, or relationships, or if you notice strong emotional or physical reactions that don’t fully make sense in the present.
If you’re unsure, we can explore this together during a consultation and determine the best approach for you.
-
Somatic therapy works with the nervous system and the body’s responses to experience. We track sensations, emotions, and patterns of activation or shutdown to support regulation, awareness, and deeper emotional integration.
-
Expressive arts therapy uses creative approaches such as music, songwriting, lyric analysis, playlists, voice, and other forms of expression to support emotional processing. No artistic experience is required.
-
EMDR uses structured bilateral stimulation to help reprocess stuck memories. Somatic therapy focuses on present-moment nervous system and body awareness. Expressive arts therapy uses creative expression to support emotional insight and regulation. These approaches often overlap in practice.
-
Yes. While some clients come specifically for EMDR therapy, many prefer a blended approach that includes both EMDR and holistic therapy. This might look like focusing on EMDR during certain sessions, and using other sessions to process current life experiences, relationships, or emotional patterns. At times, we may pause EMDR work to focus on what’s most present and relevant in your life.Your treatment is always collaborative and flexible, we adjust the approach based on your needs, pace, and goals.
-
No. Especially in EMDR and somatic therapy, detailed storytelling is not required for healing. You are always in control of how much you share and when.
-
We prioritize pacing, safety, and regulation. If something feels too intense, we slow down, pause, or shift into grounding. You are never pushed beyond your capacity.
-
No. Expressive arts therapy is not about skill or performance. It is about using creative tools as another way to process and understand your experience.
-
It means paying attention to how your body responds to stress, safety, and emotion, including states like anxiety, activation, shutdown, or calm. These patterns are important in understanding and supporting change.
-
Insight alone is often not enough to shift patterns stored in the nervous system and body. Many patterns need experiential and somatic processing to fully change.
-
We use an integrative, trauma-informed approach that draws from EMDR, somatic therapy, psychodynamic therapy, parts work, attachment theory, and expressive arts therapy, guided by what is most supportive for you.
-
We consider how identity, culture, and systemic forces shape mental health, relationships, and access to safety and support. Therapy is always understood within these broader contexts.

Holistic therapy considers the whole person, including mind, body, emotions, relationships, history, and environment, rather than focusing only on symptoms or behaviors.

Session fees at Rooted Therapy range from $200–$250 for a 60-minute session, depending on the therapist.

Sessions are 60 minutes. Most clients begin with weekly therapy, especially at the start, as research supports weekly sessions for stronger therapeutic outcomes. Over time, we may adjust to biweekly or another cadence based on your needs and progress.
-
Your first session is a chance for us to get to know you and understand what’s bringing you to therapy. We’ll talk about your current challenges, your history, and what you’re hoping to get out of the process.
You don’t need to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say, your therapist will guide the conversation in a way that feels supportive and collaborative. We’ll also begin discussing a plan for your care and answer any questions you have about the process.
-
This is completely up to you. We’re happy to offer optional support between sessions, such as book or podcast recommendations, worksheets, or journaling prompts. We also understand that life can be busy, and not everyone has the capacity for additional work outside of sessions. We’ll meet you where you are and tailor the process to your needs.
-
We require 24 hours’ notice for cancellations. Late cancellations (less than 24 hours) are charged the full fee. If your therapist late cancels, we add one “freebie” credit so that one future late cancellation is not charged, supporting mutual accountability.
